The Auto City Speedway in Clio, MI was the site of the 2015 High Times Michigan Medical Cannabis Cup, and its infield was the arena for Mass Marijuana Marketing. Multitudes of entrepreneurs descended on this event in order to make their presence known in this new Green Industry, and to try to stake their claim to a percent of the billions of dollars that does grow on trees.
Like carnival style barkers with megaphones and microphones, vendors shouted their spiel and sent prizes and cash hurling through the air to draw attention to themselves, but one name seemed to be repeatedly heralded throughout the crowd The name on the crowd’s tongues (and taste buds) – and the apparent King of Edibles – was SweetStone Candy.
As if he was Santa Claus on Christmas Eve, SweetStone owner, Claude Card made his way through the crowd bestowing gifts upon them. These were not the sweets you expect to get in your stocking though. Claudie Bears were his cannabis-infused Treat Du Jour, and they may have been more sought after than the dollar bills falling from the sky. SweetStone’s signature candy, the Claudie Bear, is an award winning, giant-sized, sugar-coated gummy
bear that comes in an assortment of flavors. Free samples of these candies were flung into the air and rained downed on attendees throughout the entire event as SweetSone made sure their name and product would emerge as a mainstay in the marijuana edibles industry.
This was also a visit home for Claude, a Michigan native that lives and runs his base of operations in California. SweetStone was established in 2011 and currently has markets in Colorado, Oregon, California, and Michigan. With SweetStone’s reputation for high quality edibles and the huge marketing push during the Michigan Cannabis Cup, Claude seems to have his site set on a very sweet future for his confections company.
